I received my “Like new certified replacement” motorola droid from Verizon Wireless, needless to say the screen goes black on phone calls, and doesn’t come back. After searching I found out that this is a VERY COMMON issue, and most things I find says there factory replacement does the same exact thing. I have factory reset the phone and called support. Now I’m getting another

Android 2.1 on the Motorola Droid you will also bring better handset audio when disconnecting a wired headset, an “improved” pattern-lock functionality and automatic night-mode switch in Google Maps.

One thing that the Motorola Droid won’t get in the Android 2.1 software update is the new 3D application launcher found on the Nexus One, though despite this, most of the new features have made their way to the Droid.

So if you are like me, and you ever reset your Motorola Droid, and don’t want to activate it, because you are selling it. This info should help you out.

Droid Bypass Activation:

You can bypass the Motorola Droid Activation by tapping on the 4 corners of the screen in clockwise order starting with the upper-left corner. This will drop you back to your home screen. The first time you boot your phone afterwards you will be asked to activate and you can then just hit the back key and it will drop you to the home screen again.

Dont forget to also, delete your sd card memory after you do this, or your pictures might still be on it.

Hope this information is as useful to you as it was for me.

So I thought this was crazy, until my wife kept telling me her droid hangs up for no reason. After poking around for a while online, I saw all kinds of posts saying, women with long hair are losing phone calls on the droid because of the sensor on the ear piece.

The sensor is very strange. If you get a piece of paper around it, it also turns the backlighing off. I have come to the answer of, “YES” people with long hair are the ones being affected.
<!--

I have got the auto update on my phone but not on my wife’s phone. Well hope for later tonight. I dont see any way to force the update on it. I’m sure its random also, I have probably more apps on mine, but she uses her phone more then me.

Heres a quote off there page.

camera autofocus fixed and time between shots reduced, enhancements for 3-way calling, audio for incoming calls improved, speakerphone remains on when using call-waiting, Bluetooth echo is removed and improved phonebook transfers, GPS, messaging, Google contact merging, Visual Voice Mail, and corporate calendar widget updated
